Goldens on Parade: Jupiter's Golden Jubilee Weekend and How the Dog Beach Works

  • November 5, 2026

On Friday, Nov. 6, at 5 p.m., golden retrievers in holiday costumes will line up at the Harbourside Place Amphitheater for the 2nd annual Golden Jubilee Parade. The organizers describe this year's parade as a Holiday Parade, with "turkeys, Christmas cheer, and festive fun." By Saturday morning, Nov. 7, the same dogs will be in the surf at Jupiter Dog Beach. That beach is the reason a golden retriever celebration has made Jupiter its home for nine years.

The Town of Jupiter calls its dog beach "one of the last friendly dog beaches around." The Golden Jubilee's weekend is laid out around that stretch of sand, and the rules for using it are the same whether you bring a costumed golden or a beagle on an ordinary Tuesday. If you live here and have a dog, this weekend is a good time to learn how the beach works.

The weekend at a glance

The ninth annual Jupiter Golden Jubilee runs Friday, Nov. 6, and Saturday, Nov. 7, 2026. It raises awareness for the Golden Retriever Lifetime Study at Morris Animal Foundation and supports Golden Retriever Rescue of Mid-Florida.

When What Where Cost and sign-up
Fri., Nov. 6, 5 to 7 p.m. Golden Jubilee Parade Harbourside Place Amphitheater, 200 N US Highway One Free, no registration needed
Sat., Nov. 7, 10 a.m. to noon Goldens on the beach Jupiter Dog Beach, Marker #27 Free, suggested $15 donation
Sat., Nov. 7, 4:30 p.m. Fancy Picnic Supper and raffle Ocean Cay Park, 2188 Marcinski Road $30 per person, children under six free

Eventbrite set the supper registration deadline for Monday, Nov. 2, at 10 p.m., so by the weekend the picnic is set for people who signed up. The parade still needs no sign-up. Anyone with a dog, or anyone who just wants to watch, can show up on Friday.

Friday on the waterfront

The Harbourside Place event listing puts the parade at the amphitheater from 5 to 7 p.m. The Eventbrite listing says goldens and their families will parade along the waterfront. Holiday-themed costumes are encouraged and entirely optional, ranging "from simple festive attire to elaborate family and group themes." Prizes will be awarded in several categories.

After the parade, organizers suggest dinner at one of the many pet-friendly restaurants nearby. Harbourside's dining directory lists Jupiter Grill, Pura Vida, The Woods Jupiter, Tommy Bahama, Calaveras Cantina, Ruth's Chris Steak House, Mana Greek Fusion, SubCulture Coffee and Gelato & Co. Pet policies can vary by restaurant and even by table, so call ahead before you walk up with a 70-pound retriever in a turkey costume.

Saturday at the south end of the beach

Saturday's events both happen at the south end of the dog beach. Marker #27 sits just one crossover north of where the dog-friendly stretch starts. Eventbrite lists the beach gathering at the Ocean Cay Park address, 2188 Marcinski Road, which is the same park that hosts the evening supper. That leaves time between the two for what the organizers call "maybe a power nap."

The organizers promise "dozens of Goldens running, swimming, and playing in the surf." They also say you can come just to watch, with or without a dog of your own. The supper is catered by Doris's Market. The menu includes wraps, heroes, chicken Caesar and vegetarian sandwiches, plus cold salads, chips, desserts and non-alcoholic drinks. Proceeds go to Golden Retriever Rescue of Mid-Florida, and a raffle drawing follows the meal.

Why the beach makes the weekend possible

The Saturday beach gathering is the center of the Golden Jubilee, and it depends on Jupiter's off-leash shoreline. Palm Beach County describes Jupiter Dog Beach as a 2.5-mile stretch. It runs north from dune crossover marker #26, just north of Ocean Cay Park, to marker #57, just south of Carlin Park at 400 S. SR A1A. The Town of Jupiter gives the same boundaries in its beach FAQ.

The County page sets out the basics:

  • Hours: sunrise to sunset
  • Leash: dogs may play and swim off-leash
  • Parking: free
  • Facilities: restrooms and showers at Ocean Cay Park on the south end and Carlin Park on the north end

That list explains how a golden retriever weekend works here. A group can spread out across a long, open, off-leash stretch with free parking and a park bathroom at either end, all within a short drive of a waterfront plaza for Friday night.

Since the Golden Jubilee meets at Marker #27, many people this Saturday will park and gather near Ocean Cay. If you walk your own dog on Saturday mornings and want a quieter spot, the beach continues north to Carlin Park, more than two miles of shoreline.

Older material from Friends of Jupiter Beach gives slightly different end markers, somewhere around #25 to #60. The Town and the County both use #26 to #57, so go by those signs.

The conditions that keep it open

"Off-leash" on this beach comes with conditions, and the County's own wording sets the bar. The page welcomes "behaved, obedient, well-socialized dogs and their conscientious owners." The Town's FAQ spells out what that means:

  1. Waste. Owners must remove any animal waste on the beach, walkways or recreational areas.
  2. Nuisance. Dogs must not create a nuisance. The Town's examples include habitual barking, whining or howling, and chasing people or vehicles.
  3. Control. Dogs must be on a leash or near their person and "obediently under voice command."
  4. Tags and vaccination. Dogs must wear proper tags and licenses visibly and securely, and owners must be able to show proof of rabies vaccination.

The County adds two location rules. Dogs are not allowed in lifeguarded areas, except service animals as defined by the ADA, and visitors should respect any area marked "NO DOGS ON BEACH." Those limits matter most at the ends of the dog beach, where it meets the guarded beaches at Ocean Cay and Carlin parks.

Friends of Jupiter Beach suggests leashing dogs in certain spots. These include between your car and the sand, at the crossovers, around small children and at the water fountains. Those are the narrow, crowded places where a friendly dog can still knock someone over. On Saturday, with dozens of goldens arriving at Marker #27 around the same time, the crossover there will be busier than usual.

This is a summary of posted beach rules for general information only, not legal advice. Signs and the Town's official pages have the final word, so check them before you go.

Who keeps the beach dog-friendly

The Town credits Friends of Jupiter Beach as a 501(c)(3) community organization. Its goal is "to support and maintain environmentally healthy, clean, and dog-friendly beaches in Jupiter, Florida." The County's beach page says the group provides free dog bags along the beach, though it also asks owners to bring their own.

For anyone asking how to give back after a weekend like this, the Town's answer is to volunteer with Friends of Jupiter Beach. The Golden Jubilee raises money for a rescue group and awareness for a long-running health study. The beach it depends on is kept up by a separate group of volunteers, all year long.

When the beach is not the right fit

Some dogs don't do well with open sand, crowds or surf, and some days are just too hot or too windy. The Town's off-leash option is the Cinquez Park Dog Park at 2183 W. Indiantown Road. The Town's facility page describes Cinquez as a 13-acre park with fenced dog runs, shaded benches and a dog-washing station.

The fenced runs are split by size:

  • Small to Medium Dog Run: dogs under 30 pounds
  • Large Dog Run: dogs 30 pounds or more

Dogs must be leashed outside the runs, and handlers are expected to follow the posted rules. The weight split makes Cinquez useful for a small dog that might get overwhelmed among dozens of retrievers at the beach. The Town's page doesn't list hours for the dog park, so check the posted signs before you plan a sunrise or after-dinner visit.

If you're willing to drive farther, the County's dog park list includes Lake Woof at John Prince Memorial Park, 2520 Lake Worth Road. It's open sunrise to sunset, with a weekly maintenance closure on Thursdays from noon to 3 p.m. None of the County-run dog parks on that list is in Jupiter, so for most local owners, the off-leash choice comes down to the beach or Cinquez.

Your Golden Jubilee checklist

  • Friday parade: arrive at the Harbourside Place Amphitheater before 5 p.m. A holiday costume is optional.
  • Saturday morning: head to Marker #27 by 10 a.m. Bring water, bags, and your dog's tags and rabies record.
  • Leash spots: use a leash between the car and the sand and at the crossover.
  • Guarded areas: keep dogs out of lifeguarded areas at either end of the beach.
  • Saturday evening: the Ocean Cay Park supper at 4:30 p.m. is for people who registered by Nov. 2.
  • More details: the Jupiter Golden Jubilee site has photos from past years and lodging discounts for visiting friends.

My goal is to help you know Jupiter well, including where your dog can run on a Saturday morning. If friends or family are thinking about a place where the beach and the dog park are part of daily life, I'm happy to show them around. Jessica Julian | Let's Connect.
